After getting excommunicated from the 'brotherhood' in late 1986 for eloping, he resumed his solo work under the name Ian Antoni, turning pro in 1987 and appearing with top names such as Freddie Starr and Owen Money as well as rubbing shoulders with the likes of Robert Plant.
After a very lengthy and moderately successful (financially) tour of the UK, he was again approached by cult members to form what would eventually become The Remnant in 1989. It was a decision that would cost him dearly and result in destitution and homelessness.
With his disillusionment in the christian faith becoming stronger, he finally turned his back on 'the dark side' in 1992, leaving The Remnant in early '93 after recording 'Something New' in Brighton
